Job Description
The salary for this role is £37,509. Onsite working is expected for 3 days a week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is to be based at the following site; Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open-source data.
The Role
As Assistant Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in providing co-ordination and support to one or more projects, ensuring procedures are followed, all key project documents are in place, and projects are delivered to budget, schedule and quality standards. You will work closely with Project Managers on a variety of projects, ensuring that they are executed to a high standard according to established project and technical management processes, leading to delivered solutions of an engineering integrity commensurate with nuclear operations.
These projects are varied and typically involve the maintenance and enhancement of the two world class fusion devices on site, as well as developing new facilities that advance enabling technologies for the international market in fusion development. These projects embody our mission to develop nuclear fusion as a source of energy generation, demonstrating the technology with a view to it ultimately becoming commercialised.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for managing small projects or work packages with a degree of independence and accountability.
* Ensure that projects are proactively tracked and managed in terms of progress and in line with IDP.
* Support the Project Manager in collaboration with the Project Sponsor to develop a Project Management Plan that defines how the project will be delivered.
* Act as the local information manager for the assigned project(s).
* Analyse the Project Data and report the progress against milestones, changes, exceptions, budgets and other key performance indicators.
Qualifications
Essential:
* A degree in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge, such as may be gained through three or more years experience of project work in technical projects.
* Excellent report/minutes writing skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
* Be able to work autonomously, with initiative and minimum supervision.
* Experience of working within quality management or systems.
Desirable
* Experience of managing the interfaces and interdependencies for technical projects.
* Project Management qualifications.
* Experience of purchasing systems.
