Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess strong customer service skills. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of animals in our care, maintaining cleanliness in the kennel area, and providing excellent service to pet owners. Working hours will be on a rota basis between the hours of 8am-7pm Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend cover.
Responsibilities
1. Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
2. Maintain cleanliness of the kennel facilities by regularly cleaning cages and equipment.
3. Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
4. Assist with customer service duties, including checking in and out pets and answering client inquiries.
5. Handle heavy lifting when moving animals or cleaning supplies as needed.
6. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to maintain a safe environment for both animals and staff.
Requirements
1. Previous setting is preferred but not essential.
2. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
3. Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods.
4. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare.
5. Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
6. Minimum 6 GCSE’s.
