Your Responsibilities
Our programme comprises several rotational placements to provide the breadth of skills development & experience to support your journey towards a future leadership position in our Sea Logistics team.
1. Placement 1 - Export Operational Control Centre – Liverpool or Birmingham (9 months)
2. Placement 2 - Product / Trade / Pricing - Liverpool, Birmingham, Dartford, Bristol, or Glasgow (3 months)
3. Placement 3 - International Placement (3 months)
4. Placement 4 - Export/Import Customer Care Location – Liverpool, Birmingham, or Dartford (6 months)
5. Placement 5 - Import Operational Control Centre (Finance) – Birmingham (3 months)
You will begin your journey in one of our Export Operational Control centres managing the process of shipments end to end, liaising with KN overseas network, suppliers, and internal customers. You will develop your financial and commercial skills, and an understanding of what makes KN the number one Sea Logistics provider.
After developing an understanding of the operational processes, you will take on one of our special products. This could include working with specific products in KN Sea Logistics and gaining an understanding of the complexity of that product (e.g. refrigerated or less than container load). It could involve you taking on a sales role, where you will be liaising with customers, quoting, negotiating, and developing solutions to their shipping needs, using our state-of-the-art systems which track our consignments around the world furthering your network/experience with a view to a long-term option of working overseas.
During the third placement, there will also be the option to undertake an international placement within one of our European teams for 3 months. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience a different culture and operation, build your network and to share/learn best practice approaches. You will then return to the UK to complete two more placements in a customer service environment and finally in a placement understanding how we manage our financials.
We will engage with you during your programme to discuss the different routes available after completion of your programme, and where your strengths are well suited. Your progression will be led by business demand, the area you have specialised in, and the skills and competencies you have developed.
