The Radiology Department is proud of the spirit of co-operation and teamwork that exists both between the Radiologists and with the other professional groups in the department and in local primary care. The successful applicant will be expected to cultivate the team-working ethic to facilitate the amicable, efficient and smooth running of the department.
The breast imaging department currently resides within main imaging at Russell's Hall. The team are currently undertaking a scoping exercise to move all facilities to a larger footprint within the trust.
The detail of the job plan is open to negotiation and will be formalised with the Clinical Director on behalf of the Medical Director shortly after commencement. This will be reviewed within the first year of employment and on an annual basis thereafter to reflect changing workload, commitments and service needs.
But will largely comprise of imaging support for breast services (screening and symptomatic) with the opportunity for some general reporting if desired. There may be opportunities, subject to mutual agreement and after an initial induction period, for the post holder to take on the role of Director of Breast Screening (DoBS). Depending on previous experience/training a development programme for the DoBS role can be arranged if necessary.
Main duties of the job
1. Deliver day-to-day clinical care and leadership in the Breast Imaging department.
2. Look at current practice and patient pathways within Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and in conjunction with the team further develop the service in line with best practice.
3. Lead in ongoing development of clinical guidelines in breast imaging, audit and other key aspects of the service governance agenda.
4. Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks, as the need arises.
5. Actively participate in the department's teaching programme and undertake supervision, support, teaching and training of clinical staff within the Breast Imaging Service, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
6. The job plan will be reviewed to provide for this and time off in lieu would be considered as deemed appropriate for weekend working.
7. The successful applicant, as per trust policy, will undertake an active mentoring programme within the trust. The appropriate mentor/mentors will be discussed and decided by the Divisional Director and Speciality lead, in conjunction with the successful applicant.
8. SPA activities will include Service Development/monitoring- service protocols and guidelines, audit and research.
There are no specific on-call requirements for breast reporting/clinical requirements as part of this tenure. However, if the candidate did wish to continue in general radiology this may form part of the final contract agreement.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
* Medical Degree from a recognised University.
* Radiology Registrar training scheme or equivalent.
* FRCR or recognised equivalent qualification.
* Completion of training in Screening and symptomatic breast imaging as per RCR curriculum and experience at consultant level.
* MRCS/MRCP/FRCS/FRCP or other postgraduate degrees/diplomas.
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
* Be on the GMC specialist radiology register (or be within 6 months of achieving CCT/CESR).
Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues related to speciality
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems.
* Must demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues related to diagnostic radiology including radionuclide imaging studies.
* Awareness of current developments and initiatives.
