IFC is recruiting an Extended Term Consultant to support communications for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Human Resources (HR). This role sits within IFC's dynamic Corporate Communications team and is responsible for designing and delivering strategic DEI and HR communications across IFC.
The goal of this role is to inform, engage, and inspire staff to do their best work. The successful candidate will have a solid background in communications, demonstrated awareness of DEI principles, and a strong desire to strengthen IFC's corporate culture in support of the organization's mission. This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional to contribute strongly to IFC's vibrant, diverse, mission-driven culture.
The selected candidate will report to the Communications Officer for HR on IFC's Corporate Communications team.
Scope of Work, Deliverables, Duties and Responsibilities:
DEI Communications
1. Work with IFC DEI team to support ongoing DEI communications delivered by the IFC Managing Director, DEI Co-chairs, and DEI Team Lead around DEI-related campaigns and initiatives.
2. Develop content, including talking points for Townhalls and other DEI and workplace inclusion-related events.
3. Ensure DEI key messages are woven throughout HR and leadership communications. Ensure messages speak to various internal and external stakeholders (e.g., recruitment teams, ESG external stakeholders, job candidates, people managers, new staff).
4. Partner with Communications team colleagues to develop and share DEI-related social media content.
5. Contribute to DEI communications strategy and support content development for updates to IFC DEI external and internal websites.
6. Manage a DEI calendar of holidays, cultural events, and heritage months, and support the development of all-staff communications related to those events.
7. Craft employee-focused stories, profiles, and Q&A content pieces that reflect DEI themes.
8. Support the production of IFC's DEI Annual Report, including collaborating across the organization to develop content, editing, and promoting the report. Ensure report reflects the IFC DEI Council's mission, activities, and roadmap. Consult with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to customize communications strategy and implementation for staff.
HR Communications
1. Support the development of engaging communications that align with the goals of IFC HR, with the strategic priorities of the IFC DEI team, and with broader IFC corporate messaging.
2. Develop and implement key messages and communications deliverables, including but not limited to the following activities:
3. Draft and/or edit messages from HR Program Leads and HR Director and provide HR-related content for corporate all-staff messages.
4. Use IFC's internal communication channels to share organization-wide HR updates and increase staff engagement and trust in IFC HR.
5. Contribute to strategy and support content development for HR-related content on the intranet and the IFC external website.
6. Support the production of the all-staff HR newsletter and HR-related intranet articles.
7. Support organizational change through clear, concise communications.
Selection Criteria
1. Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing, or Business/Finance with five or more years of experience in communications.
2. Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communications skills; ability to convey complex messages succinctly, creatively, and diplomatically.
3. Demonstrated interest in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
4. Demonstrated experience creating HR-related communications content and plans.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgement when reviewing messages and other material to be widely disseminated internally across the organization; ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment and build trust and working relationships with clients and colleagues.
6. Ability to operate under tight deadlines and juggle competing priorities with accuracy and professionalism. Attention to detail is critical.
7. Good understanding of communication approaches, tools, and methodologies related to planning, executing, and monitoring internal engagement strategies.
8. Multimedia skills (video, web, photo-editing), including knowledge of image editing, website design, and content management are preferred but not required.
9. Native-level fluency in written and spoken English.
