Description
The Environmental Advisor is responsible for providing support, expert advice and compliance monitoring to the Environmental Manager and all ENVA Scotland sites. The job holder will be a key contact point providing advice and guidance to all operational managers supporting the business and environmental culture. In order to maintain compliance with site licences and ISO14001 requirements, the Environmental Advisor will ensure audits are carried out as per audit schedule and provide support in maintaining/ updating the environmental management system.
Delivery of these services will be in a manner that emphasises safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service. The role works closely with the Environmental Manager, compliance, and technical team as well as the site operation teams with the collective aim of ensuring compliance with environmental law, regulator issued licences and ISO 14001.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting the Environmental Manager in handling information and tasks relating to environmental compliance with site licences & ISO 14001.
2. Work proactively with the Environmental Manager and Operations Managers, providing specialist environmental advice and support with regards to site responsibilities, as required by environmental law, regulator issued licences and ISO14001.
3. Support sites in developing and executing environmental improvements plans alongside the Environmental Manager.
4. Conduct internal environmental audits and site inspections, incident investigations in accordance with site permits and 14001.
5. Support in duty of care audits with customers & suppliers.
6. Obtain environmental data and update to support management systems.
7. Develop close working relationships with the operation team.
8. Support the Environmental Manager in providing environmental orientated training in order to ensure the correct level of knowledge and awareness exists within the business.
9. Aid the Environmental Manager with statutory reporting to environmental regulators for Enva Scotland sites.
10. Ensure environmental risk assessments and other appropriate documents are in place for the business, with required risk mitigating controls communicated and in place.
11. Collaborate with different departments to maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring consistency and integrity.
12. Review, obtain and update environmental aspects of our customer & supplier licences and documents.
13. Promote a culture of health & safety and environmental awareness.
14. Provide general support as part of the Environmental department, as required by the business.
15. Any further ad hoc duties as instructed by line management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications:Essential
* Clean current UK driving licence
* A HND Qualification or higher in an environmental discipline, waste management or Science based field.
* Proven admin, communication, and computing skills.
Desirable
* Waste resource management experience
Experience:
* Knowledge and practical experience of statutory environmental requirements.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of environmental permitting guidance.
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with ability to communicate at all levels.
* Strong IT skills including use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* A genuine and visible H&S understanding.
