About the team
The Underwriting department supports the Bank by assessing the risk of lending and protecting the Bank against this risk and losses. With strong market knowledge, a diagnostic approach and ability to give dependable decisions, the team takes a common sense approach to manual underwriting.
About Us
The OSB Group is a FTSE 250 specialist mortgage lender, primarily focused on carefully selected segments of the mortgage market.
Our specialist lending is supported by our Kent Reliance and Charter Savings Bank retail savings franchises. Diversification of funding is provided by sophisticated securitisation platforms. OSB’s unique cost-efficient operating model is supported by our wholly-owned subsidiary OSBIndia.
Alongside passion for our products and customers, we're passionate about our people and want to continue building a collaborative and engaging environment. Being dedicated to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we encourage differences and recognise that individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences can bring valuable insights and enhance the way we work. This is supported by our Diversity, Community and Environment Employee Engagement Networks and our commitment to the Women in Finance Charter and Women in Leadership Programme.

The key purpose of this role is to facilitate and progress mortgage applications to Completion, within the assigned mandate level, in line with the Bank’s operating procedures and policies, and to be responsible for reviewing and responding to all post-offer correspondence for long-term lending applications. Ensuring that this is dealt with in a timely manner with no breaches of our lending policy. Work with the completions team members to ensure that completion dates are met.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering high-quality service to brokers, solicitors, and customers. Controlling the release of completion funds, ensuring customer funds reach solicitors in time for completion.
* Proactively liaising with Solicitors and Legal & Compliance to ensure our interests are protected at all times.
* Demonstrating ability to use a personal lending mandate appropriately across all lending streams with sound rationale and quality assurance.
* Communicating with intermediaries on declined cases, handling objections, and providing objective feedback.
* Providing telephone support as required to maintain customer service standards.
* Managing escalations and resolving technical queries from team members.
In return for your commitment
We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £25,000 - £27,000 and a benefits package including:
* Discretionary annual bonus opportunity of up to 12.5%.
* 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

* Regulations for Commercial/Semi-Commercial/BTL mortgages.
* Mortgage administration or underwriting in Financial Services.
* Solicitor audits and KPI management.
* Supervising & training staff.
