We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our patient services team. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be computer literate, and enjoy working in a very fast-paced environment. Previous primary care experience is preferred but not essential.
Main duties of the job
Working on the reception desk where you are dealing with patients face to face and in the admin room where you can be doing anything including call handling, scanning, filing and retrieving records, issuing prescriptions, and many other varied tasks.

Job responsibilities
Duties Include:
1. Patient focused: Making appointments either face to face or over the telephone.
2. Welcoming patients in a courteous and professional manner.
3. Processing repeat prescriptions and dealing with pharmacies.
4. Registering patients as per practice protocol.
5. Organising transport for patients.
6. Receiving and responding to routine and non-routine requests for assistance from patients, carers and others.
7. Receiving and recording requests for home visits.
8. Ensuring all specimens handed in by patients are clearly labelled.
9. Answering telephones promptly and being responsible for the transmission of any messages to the person concerned, or taking the appropriate action to deal with the request.
10. Obtaining results where necessary.
11. Administration: Maintenance of patients' records, filing systems, and scanning documents for patients' records.
12. Providing support to the secretarial team with typing of letters and referrals.
13. Providing general administrative support within the admin team.
14. Dealing with incoming mail as appropriate.
15. Ordering ambulances.
16. Use of office equipment i.e. shredders, copiers, and electronic use of information such as practice notes.
17. Collecting private medical fees from patients and issuing receipts.
18. Replenishing stationery in Doctors' rooms.
19. Producing computer-generated letters and forms for daily use.
20. Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues.
21. Ensuring consulting rooms are ready for surgery.
22. Ensuring accurate handover of information to the next receptionist on duty.
23. Covering both sites in the event of sickness or holidays.
24. Carrying out such work to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
25. Attending practice meetings.
26. Attending training courses where necessary.
27. Undertaking any other appropriate task as instructed by the Practice Manager or Principals of the practice. The above list is not exhaustive and may be subject to change as deemed necessary.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
Experience
* Ability to work under pressure. Calm, friendly manner. Ability to work in a team.
* Experience of working in a GP practice.
