Job Title: Support Worker
Status: Both full-time and part-time available
Deadline: 7 November 2024
This is a newly commissioned women’s service and forms part of a wider offer of accommodation in the Gateshead borough.
Working with Gateshead Council, we support women who have multiple needs and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We work hard to ensure that everyone has a chance to “get to a better place”.
As a Support Worker, you’ll work closely with residents developing a professional and trusting relationship, ensuring each resident gets the help they need to get on with their lives, gain confidence and independent living skills, connect and engage with local services, sustain accommodation, and move on to something more permanent.
You will help residents develop the skills they need to live more independently, from basic budgeting, shopping, and cooking, to navigating the benefits system and preparing to sustain a tenancy of their own.
Some experience of working with vulnerable people may be useful, but what’s really important is having empathy, communicating well, and listening. It’s a challenging job but an incredibly rewarding one.
Due to the nature of this service, we are looking for female-only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
There are multiple vacancies open for this role; please state which you are applying for in your application.
Please return the filled-in application form by email to info@tynegroup.org.uk or by post to Tyne Housing Association Ltd, St Silas Church Building, Clifford Street, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE6 1PG.
Note: We do not accept CVs. Successful applicants will undergo an enhanced disclosure and barring check.
