Bluebird Lodge is a community hospital based in Ipswich, providing a service for people who require reablement and rehabilitation.
Bluebird Lodge has 28 inpatient beds and the team consists of nurses, health care support workers, generic workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other allied health professionals.
As a Registered Nurse, you will support the wider team in providing a high standard of care for our patients. This includes actively planning our patients' discharges in line with their rehabilitation goals and implementing any medical plans. At Bluebird Lodge, we receive patients with different needs, including rehabilitation and medical support such as intravenous antibiotics, Piccline care, and Peg care.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure that safe, effective, and holistic patient care is delivered.
* Assist patients to fulfill the activities of daily living.
* Assist, plan, implement, and evaluate individual programmes of care in partnership with patients and relatives/carers.
* Accurately observe patients’ conditions and initiate appropriate action.
* Administer medication safely to patients, including IV and controlled drugs.
* Actively participate in effective discharge planning.
* Maintain accurate, timely patient records and relevant data collection.
* Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
* Communicate effectively with all members of the multi-professional team.
* Participate in patient/carer education, e.g., advice about patients’ conditions/needs and health promotion, particularly in relation to endocrine conditions.
* Safely use clinical equipment relevant to the work area.
* Have training to order investigations and blood tests within the scope of practice.
* Undertake venepuncture and cannulation as appropriate once trained, along with any specialist clinical skills required by the area.
