To directly provide clinical technical services for preventive maintenance. This will involve: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a range of clinical equipment, using test equipment, to ensure that manufacturers functional and safety specifications are met. Negotiating with Clinicians and Nursing Staff to ensure that equipment is available for PPM. 2. Responsible for providing clinical technical support to assess the performance, diagnose faults and carry out repairs to a range of clinical equipment. This will involve: Undertaking fault-finding using appropriate techniques to diagnose problems. Carrying out electrical safety test to identify any potentially hazardous equipment. Carrying out acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment and decommissioning of end of life equipment, in accordance with departmental and trust procedures. In consultation with senior Clinical Engineer, identifying potentially hazardous symptoms and faults when in clinical areas or in talking to clinical staff. 3. To keep accurate and complete technical records of work performed. In particular to ensure that the equipment management database is accurately and consistently maintained, with work being logged as it progresses, until completion. 4. To take responsibility for all tools and equipment within the Postholders care, ensure workshop facilities are kept clear and well-ordered and that all equipment is maintained to acceptable standards. 5. Take responsibility for managing and prioritizing your own workload, following the guidance of the Senior Clinical Engineer and Medical Device Trainer, while aligning with departmental procedures, objectives, and shared priorities.
