Hays are working exclusively with a exciting business based in North Telford who are looking for an ambitious Accountants Assistant to join their team
Your new role
This is a great role where you will work closely with the Finance Manager and a small accounting team and your duties will include:
1. Support in processing and archiving purchase invoices, accurately coding to the correct supplier, department and nominal code
2. Perform supplier statement reconciliations and query any incorrect or missing purchase invoices with the suppliers
3. Process credit card statements by collating receipts, coding and entering onto accounts software
4. Send customer statements and perform first level credit control for missed sales invoices
5. Raise credit notes
6. Process all transactions through the bank to accounts software daily, such as Supplier Payments and Customer Receipts
7. Take ownership of the petty cash function, issuing petty cash slips and maintaining a sensible balance
8. Work with managers to record weekly sales and process petty cash receipts
9. Support the Finance Manager in producing monthly management accountsProcess employee expenses formsCollate and process payroll for approval by the Finance ManagerMaintain holiday accrual schedule on fortnightly payrollManage an efficient personnel admin service
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate would be around AAT Level 3 or similar level and someone who has a few years' accounting experience and is keen to learn and progress
You should have excellent interpersonal skills as will be required to liaise extensively with colleagues in the business at all levels.
You should also have strong IT skills in terms of systems and Excel
