Reporting to the Assistant Principal, Curriculum, this is a College Group role based across two campuses: East Surrey College located in Redhill and John Ruskin College located in Selsdon.
This role is offered, initially, on a two-year fixed term contract.
Salary: Starting at £58,000 (subject to qualifications, skills, and experience)
Hours: Full time: 08:45-17:00 Monday – Friday, although flexibility will be required to meet operational needs.
We have an opportunity for Directors of Learning across SEND, Adults, and Employability, with a recognition that the ability to adapt and lead across a range of curriculum areas will be crucial.
The successful candidates will be expected to deliver an excellent student experience from enrolment to destination. Key to the role will be ensuring consistent, ongoing high quality in our teaching, learning, and assessment, with a focus on strong outcomes. The new postholder will have the opportunity to further develop our exciting offer and ensure that it continues to meet the needs of our students and communities. Additionally, it will be paramount to inspire and develop our staff, ensuring innovation and excellence in our curriculum delivery.
Our successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of excellence in teaching, delivering strong outcomes, and leading on curriculum. Ideally from a GFE College, we are flexible about the curriculum areas and qualifications that you have experience in. What matters to us is that you can add value, lead improvements, and embed a relentless focus on excellence to ensure that we have consistently outstanding curriculum delivery.
This role will provide an excellent developmental opportunity for a candidate with career aspirations to gain a breadth of leadership experience.
The successful candidate must have:
1. A full teaching qualification, and a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification.
2. Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the FE and skills sector including national and local skills drivers.
3. A strong understanding of apprenticeships and adult provision.
4. Experience of working within an SEN setting.
5. Excellent understanding of how data is generated and used to support improvement in FE and the ability to analyse and present this.
6. Good digital skills including the use of cloud-based storage, office packages, and Teams.
7. A varied management skill set in leading and supporting an experienced management team.
8. A passion for supporting young people and adults, and the ability to work sensitively and positively when managing interventions and complaints.
9. Experience managing provision across sites.
10. Excellent skills in oral and written communication and the ability to relate effectively with a wide range of personnel within an academic context.
11. Experience in working effectively with peers across complex interdepartmental processes.
