About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for a part time Customer Service Adviser to act as a first point of contact for external and internal enquiries. We are looking for individuals with a genuine passion for helping people and delivering outstanding customer service. You’ll be working as part of a team to achieve shared goals. A proactive approach to learning is essential, with the ability to absorb and share knowledge along with a commitment to personal growth and continuous development.
As a Customer Service Adviser, your role will be to resolve and process a range of customer enquiries, both face-to -face and in our Telephone Contact Centre. You will identify and understand customer needs and provide a high-quality service to enhance customers’ experience. You will be required to work 29.6 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) for this role.
This is an exciting and challenging position within our busy customer services team. Every day is a different day as we handle a broad variety of enquiries where customer focus, quality work and job satisfaction play a key part. This is a chance for you to learn different skill sets, be a part of the team, and have full support from a network of colleagues and management. There may also be several opportunities to progress throughout the organisation.
About You:
To thrive as a Customer Service Adviser, you should have:
Experience working with a diverse group of people in a contact centre, reception, or customer-facing environment.
Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and Outlook.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of customers.
This is a communication focused role and a high standard of spoken and written English literacy is required. The role will also involve taking payments and numerical competency is important, therefore a Grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent, is required.
Strong skills and abilities to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and discretion.

Please note this is a Career Graded post and therefore the successful candidate would normally start at the bottom of the grade and the progression through the salary grade will be dependent on experience and duties undertaken whilst in the role.
