Providing a professional service to the Engineering teams. Effective scheduling of prototyping and testing to ensure cost effectiveness of planning and use of this resource. Produce prototype equipment for design evaluation and test. Feedback information and ideas for improvement to the Engineering design team. Perform in-house electrical and mechanical testing to required regulation, coordinating and support external test accesses. Help and support the development of new and existing products. Create and control test reports and build documentation.

Job Dimensions:
* The role will be based in the UK, with the possibility of travel to other Lucy overseas sites.
* Working in a workshop environment reporting to the Prototype Manager.
* Using various hand and machine tools to produce prototype parts and equipment.
* Working in electrical test labs to validate prototype builds.
* Traveling to support testing at UK and overseas facilities.
* Attending and chairing meetings with Designers to provide feedback on Prototypes.
* Working in a team and under own initiative.
Key Accountabilities:
* Accountable for production of prototype equipment in line with design specifications.
* Accountable for the continuous improvement of laboratory equipment and practices. Feedback design/manufacturing feasibility to the Engineering Design team.
* Collaborate with all teams within Engineering and the rest of the business to ensure successful prototype and testing - actively responsible for proactive action management, risk assessment, and contributing to solution development. Record and provide feedback and advice to design teams on test results.
* Accountable for creating, organising, and controlling build and test documentation.
* Accountable for demonstrating company behaviours and values.
* Seek development opportunities and experiment with new approaches and practices to stay current in the prototype and laboratory engineering environment.
* Guarantee the delivery of the business strategy, by ensuring you manage delivery of your own objectives and prepare for your regular performance management meetings. Ensure planning/preparation for monthly one-to-ones.
* Strive to improve the overall financial and key performance indicators of the business.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
* HND/HNC mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience of working in a multi-national, matrix organisation.
* Strong communications and presentation skills, creative with a keen commercial awareness.
* Full UK driving licence.
