Company Independence Capital ("IC") are a hybrid private equity & advisory firm specialising in seeding new buy-build strategies. IC provide a management-friendly alternative to legacy private equity for three types of teams and leaders: Enabling teams and leaders who have recently exited and who wish to utilise that experience on a similar buy-build but where they retain control Enabling teams and leaders from within a best-in-class corporate who wish to utilise that experience to build a new group where they retain control Enabling second-line management in high performing SME to buy-out their incumbent majority shareholder IC thesis is to acquire £2m to £15m turnover assets off-market and to aggregate them to an ultimate exit-scale of c£7-10m EBITDA (across a 3-5yr time horizon) before dual-track an exit process to Trade or Private Equity. IC are sector agnostic (but have deep expertise in B2B SME non-discretionary and recurring services) and instead build around the experience and ideas of the teams and leaders we choose to work with. Role Portfolio companies we have acquired all have growth expectations but at the same time face budget and bandwidth constraints. The Growth Team at Independence Capital, which will initially start with the Growth Manager (but is expected to expand to 3-4 heads over the coming 18-24 months) is a centralised function with IC to assist all group companies to expand their top-of-funnel sales activity and deliver to each business a steady stream of highly qualified leads to close. The Growth team will benefit from the systems, data assets & automation tools used by IC elsewhere in their business, which give clear line of sight to the sorts of potential customers each businesses wishes to engage with. The team will leverage use of email, LinkedIn, direct mail, telephone, referral partners & peers to yield the optimal quantity and quality of leads. Qualifying inbound interest, lead scoring and arranging appointments for the subject matter experts within the portfolio companies to then close. The role initially be player-manager - with equal time between "selling" and "planning". But within a short period of time, as traction is proven, could become almost exclusively "management" and "networking" as junior members are recruited in order to scale the "selling" capacity. Requirements Over 4 years experience in a Business Development environment Familiarity with multi-channel origination (telesales & email critical) Familiarity engaging direct with business-owner level decision-makers in SME Demonstrable track record of achieving targeted origination outcomes Demonstrable track record of pro-active self-management Role is hybrid (office and work-from-home) but having a car and being able to travel will prove an advantage as prospect visits may feature in future Package Dependant on the experience of the candidate but c£30-35k basic with £0-40k available in annual bonuses dependant on quality of originated outcomes. Should the team develop in line with expectations the Growth Manager role will evolve to also benefit from broader rewards derived from the activity of their team.
