A fantastic, new opportunity has arisen to become an Outreach & Peer Development Recovery Coordinator, supporting rough sleeping individuals throughout their treatment journey. Where: Edinburgh – Broughton Street Hours: Full Time 37.5h per week Full Time Salary : £27,449.53 - £31,529.41 pro rata (depending on experience) Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months About the role: To deliver effective engagement, harm reduction and recovery focussed interventions as required for service users presenting with a range of drug and alcohol and offending problems in both a community and prison settings Provide an arrest referral service ensuring a seamless link between police/prison custody suites, prison and the community. Provide structured group work to clients, using evidence-based programmes including SMART Recovery and Foundations of Recovery, as well as drug awareness sessions, harm reduction and acupuncture. Provide Assertive Outreach to service user’s locale, homes accommodation and the local community when appropriate and support to appointments to ensure social inclusion and maximise engagement Provide Naloxone and Injecting Equipment Provision as part of a wider harm reduction package. Manage referrals of individuals seen at the police station or referred by police or custody nurses. Support peer initiatives and service user feedback Act as link between the service and the recovery communities within Edinburgh. About you: Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working in the criminal justice or related field An in-depth understanding and knowledge of the harmful effects associated with drug misuse and offending in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability and personal relationships The ability to work unsociable hours as and when required.
