This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our innovative and dynamic CAMHS team. The post holder will be a member of one of our community-based teams working in partnership with social care, health and education agencies to deliver accessible therapeutic support for children & young people with a range of emotional & mental health difficulties. The children & young people who access our services present with a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties ranging from mild to moderate.
As a CAMHS Level 2 Practitioner, you will be an integral team member offering consultation, assessment, and evidence-based interventions to children and young people we serve.
The post-holder will work as part of the Targeted CAMHS Citywide team in the community as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality, brief outcome-focused therapeutic interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, which may include anxiety, low mood, and behavioral difficulties.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have:
* Relevant professional qualification in mental health nursing, psychotherapy, counselling, or above in a relevant field. IAPT or therapeutic training highly desirable, for example; Postgraduate qualification in CBT, BA counselling, or psychotherapy.
* Direct experience as a practitioner in a mental health setting with children.
* Knowledge and skills of how to work therapeutically with children & young people with anxiety, depression, and other mental health-related issues.
* Ability to provide effective interventions, experience of facilitating group work, training, consultation, and assessments including risk assessments. This role will involve working with vulnerable children & young people with risk behaviors.
* Knowledge and existing skills regarding a range of therapeutic interventions and their application to practice for a wide range of mental health presentations, including a sound knowledge of theory and its application to evidence-based practice.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

2. Principal duties and responsibilities
Child and family work
* To deliver good outcomes for children through completing assessments and formulations regarding young people's emotional and mental health needs and creating an effective plan for intervention.
* To ensure delivery of appropriate services to children and their families according to their assessed needs. This will include direct interventions based on a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. To provide individual and group therapeutic interventions with children, young people, and parents and carers, making decisions and managing risk appropriately regarding effective care planning and pathways.
Partnerships and networking.
* To contribute to the creation and maintenance of good working relationships at all levels with colleagues in partner agencies, local community groups, and other City Council Departments, representing the team at inter-agency meetings as appropriate.
* To work effectively with Community CAMHS in line with clinical governance and departmental policies. Act as an effective liaison ensuring clear communication between and within children's services.
* To work flexibly as a team member in a multi-agency team to develop the quality of our services, to improve the mental health and emotional well-being of the children and young people in the locality.
Accountability.
* To manage own workload effectively, maintaining appropriate records and preparing and submitting reports as required.
* To participate in individual supervision with their mental health specialist and their line manager, as well as undertaking appropriate training and developmental opportunities and attending team meetings as required.
* To demonstrate commitment and sensitivity to ensuring equality of opportunity in service delivery.
* To provide the highest standards of safeguarding to children young people/vulnerable adults who access our services, adhering to NCC's safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Complete all requirements relating to data collection.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Relevant professional qualification, Social work, nursing, or teaching, Dipsw, CSS, CQSW, QTS, RMN, NVQ 4 or above in a relevant field.
* Qualification in therapeutic approach/modality (e.g. CBT, DBT, systemic family therapy, solution-focused, play therapy, etc.)
* Experience of working with children and young people and their families with mild to moderate mental health problems.
* Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions to children, young people, or their families (e.g. Guided Self Help, CBT, parent work).
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Sensitivity to a diverse range of customers and evidence of responding to their different needs.
* Willingness to comply with the City Council's non-smoking policy.
* Must be willing to undertake a DBS check at the appropriate level.
