The Town of Grafton is seeking a dynamic applicant for the position of Department Assistant in the Recreation Department; a part-time, year-round, benefit-eligible, 25 hour/week position. Working under the direction of the Recreation Director, primary responsibilities include:
1. Responds to all customer service inquiries via phone, email, and walk-in;
2. Assists with scheduling programs, hiring vendors, communicating with schools, and reserving facilities to host the programs;
3. Supports special events with scheduling, logistics, and others as needed;
4. Supports the hiring and onboarding of seasonal staff;
5. Attending, coordinating, and preparing documents for Recreation Commission meetings;
6. Markets programs and events on a variety of platforms;
7. Collects program registration documentation and associated fees;
8. Processes online and cash deposits;
9. Processes Recreation Department warrants and payables;
10. Performs similar or related work as required.
Applicant must be an excellent communicator, professional, self-motivated, highly organized, and friendly, and be well versed in all business software. Knowledge of online registration software is a plus. Some nights and weekends required.
Post high school education and one to three years of experience in the Recreation Field and/or a municipal setting is preferred.
This is a part-time (25 hours per week), hourly, non-union position, with a salary range of $30,355-$34,333, DOQ. Grafton offers an attractive benefit package which includes health, dental, life, disability insurances, flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, and a reliable pension system.
