Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
* Plan, perform, interpret and report a wide range of routine and non-routine Neurophysiology Investigations to a high level of competence on adults, children and babies including subjects with physical disability, learning difficulties, with challenging behaviour and barriers to understanding.
* Develop and implement protocols, policies and guidelines that impact on the Trust and other Healthcare providers relating to this service.
* Provide specialist advice to Consultants and other Healthcare workers. Provide information on the appropriateness of specialised investigations taking into consideration the patient's medical history and provisional diagnosis.
* Provide a point of contact from Consultants for patient's referrals.
* Work collaboratively with other professionals; medical, nursing, technical, portering, transport, administrative staff and agencies to ensure service(s) meet changing healthcare needs.
* Contribute to the planning and organisation of information resources, ensuring effective and administrative patient reporting and data storage.
* Develop and maintain the section database and teaching materials.
* Initiate and participate in Clinical Audit.
* Support for stock control of consumables and contribute to procurement of new/replacement equipment for the services.
* Communicate with Consultant Neurophysiologists and other medical staff concerning test results.
* Communicate service-related information to patients, carers, and other service users.
