Help us create a better future, quicker
As a senior member of the highly skilled 24/7 World Class Control Centre, you will monitor, control, and coordinate activities across the ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) UK onshore wind, solar, and battery portfolio, as well as support our European offshore wind portfolio with a capacity of over 3GW and growing.
You will manage assets considered critical infrastructure by Ofgem, ensuring business regulatory compliance with the UK grid code and wider regulatory requirements. Your role will directly influence business revenue through efficient response to events such as wind turbine and High Voltage (HV) faults, maximizing plant availability and minimizing lost production, including responsibilities for Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO).
You will also oversee remote asset management of new technologies like battery storage and solar PV, working to balance peak loads and maximize revenue streams through ancillary services.
What you’ll be doing
* Handling complex technical tasks on shift, using your experience to troubleshoot and resolve faults remotely, including HV switching tasks in collaboration with HV network teams.
* Monitoring the System Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) 24/7, managing faults to ensure maximum revenue and minimal unavailability.
* Conducting technical fault analysis of wind turbines, making informed decisions to bring plant online or offline, minimizing impact on revenue.
* Ensuring compliance with grid instructions such as power curtailments, reactive power adjustments, and frequency response, to maintain regulatory compliance and avoid license removal.
* Communicating with DNOs, TSOs, and the System Operator to coordinate outages and ensure safety and legislative compliance.
What you’ll bring
Experience in control room operations within a complex, dynamic environment, with the ability to make key decisions and demonstrate accountability. Knowledge of wind turbine technology, SCADA systems, and safety rules is essential.
What’s in it for you
Competitive salary, pension scheme with double match up to 10%, 36 days annual leave, and a range of benefits including share schemes, health and wellbeing support, discounts, and more.
