In this role you will collaborate with various budget owners and teams across the Group to deliver key management information and provide insight into expenditure to help effectively manage the cost base. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator as the role interacts with a broad range of internal stakeholders across the business.
As a part-qualified accountant, you'll be provided with study support through an apprenticeship to help you learn, develop and qualify as a chartered accountant, all whilst making a valuable contribution to the operational and financial performance of the business. About the role:
Reporting directly to the UK Finance Manager, the role of Management Accountant will be based in our Head Office on Whitehall Road, Leeds, which is just a short walk from Leeds Train Station. The office has been designed as a collaborative space which supports hybrid working.
You will produce reports and analysis in line with monthly and yearly accounting timetable as well as providing technical and accounting support.
Key responsibilities are:
1. Produce management account submissions to ensure reporting deadlines and submissions to Group Reporting are met.
2. Produce budget variance analysis for cost center managers to ensure appropriate conversations can be had to effectively manage the cost base.
3. Conduct and co-ordinate meetings with cost centre managers to understand proposed expenditure outlays and monitor any overspends and advise accordingly.
4. Maintain all UK company accruals and prepayment schedules and ensure they are reconciled to SAGE accounting records, provide a fair and true reflection of costs matched to the period they relate and are fully justified by supporting documentation to ensure a robust control environment.
5. Provide support to UK Finance Manager in respect of all processing associated with the production of the UK budget and rolling forecasts.
6. Produce monthly Financial Control Framework reports and required supporting balance sheet reconciliations for all UK companies as part of the monthly balance sheet control process.
7. Maintain and control all processes and reports for a variety of tasks including but not limited to bank reconciliations, PO accruals, SAGE ledger close, payroll journals.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
1. Part qualified/newly qualified professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA etc.)
2. Knowledge of accounting software packages not exclusively but preferably Sage 200
3. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required including pivot tables, V&H Look ups, Sum ifs etc.
4. Experience in preparation of management accounts / monthly reports, report writing.
5. Experience in liaising with budget holders.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
7. Highly numerate with attention to detail and strong analytical skills
8. Excellent organisational and good prioritisation skills
9. Shows initiative and is proactive
10. Self-starter who will take ownership for their tasks and delivers on time
11. Experience of working in a fast-paced dynamic environment
