Building Surveyor – The Role:
We have two Building Surveyor roles available in our Technical and Investment team.The successful candidates will be providing support across a wide variety of buildings within the Council's housing stock. This will include responsibility for planning, procuring, managing, and delivering a high-quality planned and cyclical maintenance service, ensuring projects are customer-focused and achieve best value.We manage everything from routine maintenance to delivering multi-million-pound
redevelopment projects. At present, we are investing resources into:
- Enhancing and modernising our properties
- Delivering cutting-edge sustainability initiatives
Building Surveyor – Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, procure, manage, and deliver a high-quality planned and cyclical maintenance service,
ensuring projects are customer-focused and achieve best value
- Administer and oversee projects, including managing budgets and reporting on KPI
performance
- Assist in the development of future programmes of work by undertaking detailed property
surveys
- To ensure building work is completed to an excellent standard, in compliance with the
codes of conduct, regulations (including financial) and policies of the council
- To undertake building work in line with health and safety legislation, including monitoring
that contractors are also compliant with these regulations when working in our buildings
- Manage multiple reactive and planned maintenance projects to ensure issues are
prioritised and the annual maintenance plan is completed
- To identify when more specialist contractors are required to deal with building issues
Building Surveyor – You:
- 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including English and Maths
- HNC/HND or Degree level or equivalent in Building Surveying or Construction/Property
related subject
- Post qualification experience in an appropriate technical or professional role
- Qualified or working towards an appropriate technical or professional qualification (RICS,
CIOB or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines
