About The Company
My client, an established design and manufacturer of bespoke, turnkey industrial machinery and subcontract services, is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer or Draughtsperson. As a Design Engineer or Draughtsperson, you will be responsible for undertaking a variety of engineering tasks, including designing, researching, and prototyping new products. The successful candidate should have hands-on experience of using CAD and CAE software, such as SolidWorks and/or Inventor.
Design Engineer / Draughtsman - Key Responsibilities
1. Modelling & Reproducing Drawings of Parts/Assemblies from Customer Drawings / Sketches in AutoCAD / SolidWorks / Inventor while applying correct tolerances and/or Geometric Tolerancing
2. Measuring Supplied Parts / Samples and producing Drawings, including Reverse Engineering
3. Site Visits for Surveying & Engineered Solutions Purposes
4. Liaising with customers regarding requirements and technical details
5. Sourcing Engineering Technical data (Seals, Bearings, Bought in Parts, Materials, etc.)
6. Engineering Calculations (Density of materials, Motor requirements, Sealing solutions)
7. Providing 3D CAM model Data to Machine Shop
8. Issuing drawings/jobs to Machine shop
9. Performing measuring Checks on machined parts
10. Data entry (logging of orders on database, Work Scheduler)
11. Producing DXF Drawings from customer drawings, sketches, and templates for use by profiling (laser / Waterjet)
12. Reverse engineering parts from customer samples
13. Producing Folding Drawings for Press operators
14. Calculating material requirements for rolled parts
15. Converting Drawing formats for laser department
Design Engineer Draughtsman - Experience Requirements
1. Ideally educated to a minimum HND level in Mechanical Engineering (Degree would be preferred)
2. An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles
3. A creative, logical approach for generating new ideas and solutions, with the ability to transition these through to part development
4. A sound knowledge of SolidWorks and/or Inventor CAD, technical drawings, and 3D modelling
5. A good knowledge and understanding of the qualities of metals, materials, and components
6. Strong analytical and numeracy skills
