This role is for a Communications Engineer Supervisor to work on the Heathrow Airport Technology Delivery Partner (TDP) Project. The role will be based at Heathrow Airport 5 days / Nights a week (typically Monday to Friday). The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of implementation projects across the campus in the installation of physical infrastructure and active network equipment, internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Health and Safety Management: Understand and enforce the company's health and safety policies, conduct point-of-work risk assessments, and promote a positive safety culture.
2. Team Supervision: Lead and supervise installation teams, ensuring work areas are organized, and responsibilities are clearly defined to prevent confusion.
3. System Installation and Maintenance: Oversee the installation of communication systems, including cable pulling, dressing, termination, and testing of voice, CAT6, and fiber cables. Utilize tools like Fluke DSX and OTDR for testing, and perform fault-finding tasks. Experience with fiber splicing using tools like the Fujikura 60s/70s is preferred.
4. Documentation and Reporting: Complete end-of-shift update reports, maintain accurate records of installations and maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with Heathrow and industry standards.
5. Collaboration: Liaise with other contractors and stakeholders to coordinate activities and ensure smooth operations.
6. Flexibility: Be prepared to work both day and night shifts as required to meet project deadlines.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. Experience: Demonstrated supervisory experience in installing IT infrastructure within complex operational environments, preferably in aviation or rail sectors.
2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in cabling and physical infrastructure installation, with knowledge of network infrastructure and fault-finding techniques.
3. Qualifications: Mandatory certifications include CSCS/ECS card, SSSTS, and First Aid at Work. Preferred qualifications include a driving license, Airside Driving experience, PASMA, IPAF, Working at Height Training, Confined Space and Rescue, and Asbestos Awareness (UKATA).
Additional Requirements:
1. Security Clearance: A verifiable 5-year employment history is required to obtain Airside pass authorization at Heathrow Airport.
