Required September 2025 - Grays Convent High School are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Second in English with specific responsibility for KS 3 - TLR 2B.
The successful candidate will be responsible to the Head of Department and, with them, for the teaching and learning of English throughout the school, ensuring that each pupil is encouraged to develop their potential to the full. Strategic development and monitoring of the English department will be shared with the Head of Department who will take the main lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. The development of Schemes of Work at KS3
2. Co-ordinating all aspects of intervention in Years 7, 8 and 9, looking particularly at students who enter not secondary ready, FSM and SEN students and any student who fails to make the expected levels of progress.
3. Deputising for the Head of Department in their absence or as and when required.
4. Assisting the Head of Department in developing the quality of teaching and learning in the department, monitoring standards, reviewing existing practice and planning for the future.
