Job Title: Support Worker – Children’s Residential Care

Salary: £11.50 per hour + additional sleep-in rate
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (36 hours per week)
Social Care & Education are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our team in a Children’s Residential Care Home in Leicester. This is a full-time, permanent role where you’ll be making a real difference in the lives of young people aged 8 to 18 with challenging behaviour and learning disabilities.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will work within a team to provide high-quality care and support to children in a residential care setting. You’ll help create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children can thrive and develop, while promoting their independence and well-being.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
• Providing day-to-day care and support for children aged 8-18, including assistance with daily living activities, emotional support, and behavioural management.
• Supporting children with challenging behaviour and learning disabilities in a positive and proactive manner.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with the children to encourage their social, emotional, and educational development.
• Administering medication as per care plans and ensuring their safety at all times.
• Keeping accurate records of children’s progress and communicating with parents/carers and other professionals.
• Assisting with the preparation of meals, activities, and routines, helping to create a nurturing home environment.
• Undertaking sleep-in shifts when required, with additional pay for each shift.
What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience working with children, ideally in a residential care home setting.
• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and learning disabilities.
• A full UK driving licence is essential for this role, as you may need to transport children on outings.
• A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to making a difference in their lives.
• The ability to stay calm and respond effectively to challenging situations.
• A caring, patient, and empathetic nature, with excellent communication skills.
• Level 3 qualification in Children’s Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
