The Service:
Portsmouth Legal Services is a friendly hardworking and dedicated team of approximately 40 lawyers and assistant staff who provide commercial and litigation support to the Council departments. We are committed to ensuring an excellent service in all aspects of our work.
Your New Role:
You will provide quality advice and support to all departments of the Council on a wide range of matters relating to procurement, commercial, and local government law. You will have your own case load consisting of a variety of procurement, projects, and contract matters. You will assist colleagues and develop knowledge in other areas including PFI contracts, highways law, companies law and public/administrative law, and when required on other matters ranging from significant capital projects, major procurement projects and local government matters.

What you'll need to succeed:
You have experience of preparing all necessary legal documentation in respect of routine / non-complex cases using precedent documentation and assisting with complex work as part of a project team as required.You have a consistent, supportive, inclusive, proactive, pragmatic, flexible and commercial approach to problem solving.You have excellent organisational and communication skills and understanding of working in a politically sensitive environment.You are responsible and accountable with integrity for the delivery of your personal tasks and outcomes, ensuring that work is completed within agreed timescales with excellent outcomes.You are a qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEX, and are committed to delivering exceptional legal services.
