All our Apprentices are paid above the national minimum wage, and you’ll be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college, with the opportunity to get real-life experiences such as working in people’s homes, getting involved in community projects, and improving people’s lives by being customer-focused.
What does a life as a Plasterer look like?
Plastering is a core function within the construction sector, especially in house building and refurbishments. As a plasterer, you will learn about all the different products and understand how to manage a job, which will vary depending on the materials you are using. You will be responsible for mixing and applying different kinds of plaster to inside walls and ceilings, working with dry lining, and putting protective coverings onto external walls, such as pebble dashing, to protect and waterproof buildings. Roles in plastering are physical in nature and may involve lifting and moving equipment, working at height, and will involve working inside and outside.
The apprenticeship course will cover the following:
* Identifying and confirming plastering requirements and components against a survey/job sheet/specification/drawings/CAD/BIM and in accordance with Building Regulations
* Preparing the site/work area (including access equipment when necessary), power, and hand tools appropriate to the project
* Locating, handling, storing, loading, transporting, and positioning plastering materials and components safely, minimising damage so they are ready for application and where applicable, in accordance with Working at Height regulations
* Preparing background substrates for internal solid plastering, dry lining, and external rendering
