We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician to join our Water Operations team based in Little Marlow, SL7 3RT.
As the successful candidate, your role will involve performing a range of front-line maintenance and operational activities on sewage pumping stations in the Thames Valley North region (Reading, High Wycombe, Marlow, Oxford). This includes planned and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment to support asset operation.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference at Thames Water by engaging in activities such as operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to ensure service delivery meets standards of time, cost, and quality. Responsibilities include maintenance of equipment supporting plant operation.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
* Carrying out scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance on wastewater assets and electrical machinery, minimizing plant breakdowns.
* Communicating professionally with customers, meeting their expectations throughout the process.
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs efficiently to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
* Providing technical advice, referencing up-to-date knowledge, and supporting technical trainees if needed.
* Working on equipment such as pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, VSDs, control systems, valves, sensors, PLCs, and chemical dosing equipment.
Location and Working Pattern
Base Location: Little Marlow, SL7 3RT
Working Hours: 38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Includes standby rota payments and overtime, which can increase earnings by up to £15,000 annually after training.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice or significant experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity.
* 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification.
* Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, and repairing electrical plant equipment.
* Experience with large pumps, actuated valves, VSDs, and switchgear is essential.
* Knowledge of health and safety standards relevant to the industry.
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces (training provided).
* A full UK driving license.
