1x 1.0 WTE substantive Senior Practitioner
1x 1.0 WTE (part time considered) Senior Practitioner to cover Maternity Leave until December 2025 (fixed term).
The Senior Practitioner will work in partnership with the Service Manager to provide operational management of the Liaison Psychiatry team on a day-to-day basis.
The role will support other members of the team through effective leadership and clinical supervision. They will demonstrate a high level of practice experience. They will provide leadership and support to the teams and lead any future developments of the service provision by actively getting involved in quality improvement initiatives to improve performance and clinical outcomes for our service users.
The Senior Practitioner will work a mixed shift pattern which will cover the full 24/7 period - including weekends and bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
Organise, integrate, and lead a multi-professional team in providing a high-quality service to service users of SHSC.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the Trust and other relevant services and key stakeholders, in order to maintain a safe and effective service.
Continue to operate as a skilled clinician - undertaking assessments, formulating treatment plans and appropriately managing risk.
Act as a champion for the service, demonstrating a participative and supportive management style with a commitment to team working.
Maintain close links with all relevant agencies associated with the crisis and emergency care network including external partners.
Provide supervision and support to the staff members of the team including formal performance, conduct, capability and attendance management - having full line management responsibility for a team of frontline and support staff. This will also include deputising for the Service Manager in their absence.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration with all team members and liaise as necessary with key stakeholders and services across the crisis and emergency care network.
Attend, contribute to and lead Operational and Governance meetings, working in partnership with the Service Manager.

Principal Duties
* Responsible with the Service Manager for managing and developing staff from a range of professions by providing regular work supervision and appraisal.
* Be a positive role model to promote a conducive working environment.

* Responsible with the Service Manager for ensuring that the service adheres to Care Pathways and service wide systems and processes for the delivery of health and social care.

Person Specification
Training
Essential
* Registered Nurse at B6/Level two Mental Health Social Worker for 2 years
* Be educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable
* Mentorship/training qualification
* Leadership training
* Experience of delivering follow up to service users within a crisis setting
Knowledge
Essential
* Demonstrate knowledge of risk assessment/risk management.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Have a comprehensive knowledge of mental health act and other relevant legislation
* Demonstrate knowledge of local and national policy related to mental health
Desirable
* Knowledge of audit and evaluation processes
* Be competent and confident, to provide expertise, advice and clinical and managerial leadership and role modelling to the teams they are working with.
* Evidence of working across a variety of mental health settings including crisis community work.
Experience
Essential
* Be aware of current issues working across a crisis network, policies and developments and be able to share these with colleagues.
* Have an understanding of local, directorate and national targets, key performance indicators and quality standards are met, monitored and reported on a regular basis.
* Experience of supervising staff
* Be able to demonstrate a high level of skill and expertise in effective decision making whilst exposed to distressing and highly emotional situations.

* Experience of mental health work in a community setting
