This role is centred on the notion of managing the person, the teacher, at the heart of our mission to raise standards and help students to achieve and progress. Line managing a team of teachers the group head of faculty ensures in a group structure that the college remains focussed and ready for inspection, that staff feel supported and challenged to be the best they can be and to support a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with the SLT, group subject leads and pastoral staff, group heads of faculty will help build teacher effectiveness, help focus on improvement and ensure that students remain our top priority. Group heads of faculty will line manage a range of staff from different subject specialisms. Working closely with group subject leads they will support the development of skills and abilities and broader professional responsibilities. Sharing best practice regularly, the head of faculty will champion the use of formative assessment and formative action, help teachers to monitor and review student progress, retention and attendance. Heads of faculty will also ensure that teachers are supported, so that their wellbeing and welfare remain a priority, and that they have access to the training and CPD they need in their role. We will consider applicants with the experience and ability to teach any of our A-levels subjects for this role. The role would suit an applicant with qualified teacher status (QTS/QTLS) as there will be up to a 50% teaching commitment, and experience of managing teachers in one or multiple disciplines.
