Individuals will be required to have a good understanding of Haematology and Oncology and practice directly relating to patient care, supporting students and mentors to develop clinical learning opportunities. To undertake appropriate planned practice education and with the clinical and management team develop assist in developing further training and development plans for Haematology and Oncology. Promote and support nursing practices based on research. To act as a mentor to students and support mentors on a regular basis within Haematology and Oncology in different clinical areas across the divisions. Dealing with complex decisions relating to student placements. To work clinically with nursing staff and students in practice and support with specific learning outcomes. To be up-to-date with course curriculum and understand the assessment process for students. To support mentors on the ward and to have protected time to support students, whilst ensuring that mentorship and education policies are adhered to. Assist with and carry-out audit. Involved with the review, development and implementation of appropriately related policies. Clinically work with students particularly if they are specific learning needs identified. The role will feed into the strategic educational requirements that are required across the Trust. The role will involve embracing new, local and national, initiatives that may arise. The role will involve communicating educational and practice information with the organisation. Providing support and pastoral care for mentors/educators. To be responsible for the development of training programmes and pathways in line with national and local educational policy.
