We are a currently working on behalf of a leading M&E contractor in the North East, who is looking for an enthusiastic mechanical supervisor/site manager to become part of their growing team. They provide mechanical installation, maintenance, and service solutions to various sectors, including industrial, commercial, and residential.
Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing mechanical teams on-site, ensuring all mechanical systems and installations are completed to the highest standards, on time, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This is a hands-on, site-based role, requiring effective leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to manage day-to-day activities on large-scale mechanical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and manage the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plant equipment, etc.)
* Ensure all mechanical work adheres to project specifications, building codes, and health & safety regulations
* Lead, motivate, and develop the mechanical team, offering technical support and guidance as needed
* Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and safety compliance
* Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and resolve any on-site issues
* Manage the day-to-day operations of mechanical works, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
* Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any issues encountered
* Oversee the preparation and submission of reports on project status, quality checks, and team performance
Required Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in mechanical supervision, ideally in industrial or commercial sectors
* In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, installations, and related regulations
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
* Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
* Strong knowledge of health, safety, and quality standards (e.g., HSE, ISO)
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
