What is involved
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, your duties will include:
1. Responsibility for providing and maintaining service excellence to customers, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy at a high level.
2. Ensuring all work in the laboratory is carried out in compliance with Health and Safety policies, ISO13485 (Current Revision), ISO17025 (Current Revision), EUGMP (Current Revision), accreditation requirements, internal procedures, and in conjunction with the Senior Technicians and under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor/Management team.
3. Maintaining accurate and sufficiently detailed records of all quality tests performed and upholding relevant quality standards as set out in the controlled laboratory and QA procedures.
4. Assisting in the day-to-day organization of work in the microbiology unit to meet departmental and customer needs.
5. Cleaning and washing of laboratory glassware, preparation, and sterilization of laboratory media.
6. Performing microbiological techniques on customer product and other samples, including microbiological identifications, culture preparation and maintenance, LAL Endotoxin testing, bioburden, environmental, biological indicator (routine and validation), product inoculations, and sterility testing.
7. Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, water generation systems, balances, heating mantles, stirrers, incubators, laminar flows, cleanrooms, pH meters, vacuum pumps, filtration apparatus, and monitoring systems.
8. Organizing the environmental monitoring program (including particle counting) and checking environmental conditions within the laboratory.
9. Cleaning general laboratory, test rooms, and cleanrooms.
10. Disposing of lab waste generated in carrying out duties.
11. Dealing with all customer inquiries/complaints in a courteous, professional manner at all times.
12. Responsible for stock control in conjunction with other laboratory staff in a proactive manner.
13. Designated trainer for the laboratory.
14. Initiating, investigating, controlling, and analyzing non-conformance reports, ensuring all relevant parties are informed.
15. Assisting in the management of work instructions, methods, and procedures.
16. Assisting in the validation of laboratory equipment and producing relevant reports.
17. Ensuring the laboratory is maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
18. Attending relevant courses and training.
19. Familiarity with the microbiological work carried out in the laboratory.
20. Undertaking any other such duties as may become necessary and as may reasonably be expected in the provision of the quality assured service.
Required Experience
Sound knowledge of general microbiology techniques and EUGMP is required. A Senior Technician position requires a minimum of 3 years laboratory experience or otherwise deemed competent by the management team. A degree in a science-based subject is preferred. Trainer representatives require ‘Train the trainer’ course attendance.
