Your Role
As a Customer Research Surveyor you will undertake many different types of surveys, most involve face to face interviews with members of the public on the bus, tram or rail networks as well as monitoring various modal traffic flows. You will record the data in a hand-held data capture device. Surveys are undertaken whenever Public Transport is in operation. As an Ambassador for TfGM you will relate to the public tactfully and deliver excellent customer service. You will be comfortable in the use of handheld and tablet computer devices and the use of apps.
In this role you will work a shift system of any five days over seven each week within a 13-week roster. The shift types include early, middle, late and split shifts, an early shift can begin at 3 AM and a late can finish at 1 AM. A driving licence and access to a motor vehicle for business use is essential for this role due to the start/end times of shifts and travel between the locations required across Greater Manchester.

Who are we?
We are seeking Customer Research Surveyors to join our Surveys, Research and Analysis team. We are responsible for collecting high quality transport data through a range of transport-related consumer surveys and research which will be used to enhance transport services across Greater Manchester. It is a fast-moving operational department with frequently changing schedules aligned to client requirements

As this is a customer facing role you will bring experience of working with the general public and have strong communication and customer service skills. Our Customer Research Surveyors work throughout the 10 districts of Greater Manchester and work various shifts so a demonstrable geographical knowledge of Greater Manchester and a flexible attitude towards work are essential. You will also have experience of accurately recording data and have the ability to follow instructions and work without close supervision.
What we can offer you
A fixed term role until 31st March 2026 with a salary of £28,069 - £29,881 per annum depending on skills and experience plus 15% shift allowance. You’ll join a great, supportive team as well as receiving car and mileage allowance. You will also be provided with full uniform.
