We are currently looking to recruit a Band 3 Nursing Assistant to work on Cubley Court Male, an Older Adult inpatient ward caring for Older Adults from Derby and Derbyshire, diagnosed with Organic and Functional mental illness.
Please be mindful that the wards provide a 24-hour, year-round inpatient service.
Main duties of the job
As a valued member of the team, you will deliver high standards of person-centred care showing empathy, patience and understanding at all times.
We work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and you will work within the Trust Core Care Standards and always promoting independence, recovery, and service user dignity. You would be an active and supportive member of the team.
As a Nursing Assistant you will be actively involved in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of qualified nurses and be accountable for the reporting of the care you give to qualified nursing staff.
We offer ongoing training and development, clinical supervision & managerial supervision, an annual PADR.

Job responsibilities

* As a Nursing Assistant you will be completing daily duties including:
* Providing care and support for patients who are acutely mentally unwell
* Spending 1:1 time with patients
* Escorting patients off the ward
* Completing levels of observations with patients
* Engaging patients in therapeutic activities
* Completing physical observations and general physical check
* Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team to make changes in patients' care
* Supporting patients with their ADLs
* Providing support to other wards across the unit
* Responding to patients when they are distressed
Person Specification
Qualifications/Experience
* NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or Care Certificate
* Previous experience in older people's care
Skills
* Communication skills - written and verbal - to be assessed via application form and at interview
* Recent, relevant experience of working within mental health.
* Understand and demonstrate the Trust values
