Maintenance Engineer
Hourly Rate: £22 to £24 per hour
Annual Salary: £51,000+
Leprino Foods is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance team. The successful candidate will provide an electrical, mechanical and instrumentation resource to support the efficient manufacture of mozzarella cheese and whey products, in a safe manner while promoting and maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Ensure all engineering work is carried out in compliance with SOPs and safe working practices.
2. Monitor equipment and plant performance and follow maintenance (SAP PM) plans.
3. Carry out planned routine and non-routine maintenance tasks to maintain high plant performance levels.
4. Actively seek areas of improvement across the site and support your Team Leader in continuous improvement projects.
5. Effectively communicate with all appropriate personnel within your sphere of responsibility.
6. Ensure all work is handed over effectively to colleagues starting the next shift.
7. Update plant asset technical register using portable tablet device.
8. Perform Point of Work Risk Assessments using STAR books to assess tasks to be completed.
9. Contribute fully in 5-Why Investigations during and following equipment breakdowns or periods of non-compliance.
10. Maintain timely and accurate records of all maintenance tasks performed.
11. Undertake any other tasks to successfully fulfill the duties of the role.
Essential Requirements:
1. NVQ Level 3 in Engineering with strong cross-trade skills in mechanical/electrical OR NVQ Level 3 in Mechatronics.
2. Minimum of 4 years recent and relevant work experience within a production or manufacturing environment.
3. Demonstrate a flexible skill set fully exploiting cross or multi-skill elements of training without trade demarcation.
4. Ability to solve problems using a logical thought process and implement solutions to prevent recurrences.
5. Ability to operate under pressure in a fast-moving technical environment.
6. Detailed knowledge of manufacturing equipment and/or processes and the safety requirements in the maintenance and repair of same.
7. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
8. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
9. Ability to work rotating 12-hour continental shifts, including weekend and night shifts.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Relevant experience within the food/dairy industry.
2. 17th or 18th Edition wiring regulation qualification.
3. HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an Engineering Discipline.
4. English, Maths, Chemistry and/or Physics - GCSE/O Level Grade C or above or equivalent.
5. Accredited cross trade qualification.
