Your Role as a Science Teacher:
Deliver Engaging Science Lessons – Plan and teach science lessons that are engaging, accessible, and tailored to the needs of students with a variety of special educational needs.
Differentiate for SEN Students – Use creative teaching strategies to ensure all students, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and SEMH, can access and engage with the science curriculum.
Foster Curiosity & Exploration – Encourage students to ask questions, explore scientific concepts, and develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Support Social & Emotional Development – Promote confidence, teamwork, and resilience through group work, practical science activities, and discussions.
Collaborate with Support Staff – Work closely with teaching assistants and other professionals to implement individual learning plans (IEPs) and provide a holistic approach to learning.
Monitor Student Progress – Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback, helping each student reach their full potential in science.
Who We’re Looking For:
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching science at secondary level, preferably in an SEN setting.
✅ Experience with SEN – A strong understanding of how to differentiate science teaching for students with a variety of special educational needs.
✅ Passion for Science – A deep enthusiasm for science and a desire to inspire students to engage with and enjoy the subject.
✅ Creative & Adaptable – A flexible teaching style that meets the diverse needs of students and fosters an inclusive classroom environment.
✅ Empathetic & Patient – A caring, patient, and understanding approach to teaching, with a commitment to students’ academic and emotional development.
✅ Strong Communication Skills – Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals to support student progress.
✅ An Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
