About the role
Moorside Legal is a dynamic new law firm specialising in debt recovery. We are seeking a Principal Solicitor to oversee and guide the legal team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional legal services to our clients. Your expertise in legal practice, leadership abilities, and commitment to excellence will be instrumental in upholding our reputation.
Responsibilities
* Legal Oversight: Provide expert legal advice and guidance to Paralegals and support staff within the firm. Review and supervise their work to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
* Case Management: Oversee a portfolio of defended cases; primarily small claims. Ensure that cases progress efficiently and effectively, meeting client expectations and deadlines.
* Client Relations: Act as a point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationships. Handle client queries, concerns, and feedback in a responsive and professional manner.
* Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic plans for the legal department. Identify areas for growth and improvement, recommending initiatives to enhance overall efficiency and client satisfaction.
* Training and Development: Lead training sessions and mentor Paralegals to enhance their legal knowledge and professional skills. Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment that promotes continuous learning and development.
* Compliance and Ethics: Work closely with the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) to ensure that all legal activities and advice comply with applicable laws, ethical standards, and the firm's policies. Implement and maintain legal best practices to safeguard the firm's reputation and mitigate risks.
* Court Representation: Represent the firm and clients in court proceedings, hearings, and other legal forums. Prepare and present compelling legal arguments and evidence to support clients' interests effectively.
* Case Research: Conduct thorough legal research to support legal arguments and advise on complex legal issues. Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact ongoing cases or clients' interests.
* Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments within the firm, such as compliance, finance, and collections, to ensure seamless integration of legal services and support overall business objectives.
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor with significant post-qualification experience (at least 5 years) in a legal practice, preferably with expertise in parking litigation.
* Proven experience in supervising and managing a legal team, demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring skills.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and legal procedures.
* Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
* Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
* Strong client management and relationship-building capabilities.
* Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and professionalism.
