The Role
To maintain a range of buildings services, plant and equipment, which can sometimes be complex and non-routine by diagnosing and repairing faults as they occur. You will maintain NHSL’s mechanical, electrical plumbing, associated building services plant and building fabric assets to a high standard.
This will include the planning and prioritising on a day-to day basis of their workload and material management requirements to include documentation, completion and sign off. The post holder will work within a specific range of premises on a routine basis however specialised services will be provided across NHSL.

What we'll need you to bring
1. Completion of apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Bias plus an HNC or equivalent.
2. Non-core training qualification at SVQ level or equivalent.
3. Accredited Boiler/Steam course resulting in postholders gaining accreditation and ensuring the organisation meets HSE and Insurance requirements regards competent persons.
4. Specialist manufacturer courses are provided for unique equipment used in and industrial scale e.g. Specialist laundry equipment.
5. Experience of working in an estates service environment.
6. Experience of inspecting and planning working in relation to PPM and Reactives.
7. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current statutory legislative requirements.
8. Additional knowledge through training is also required for Portable appliance testing, periodic testing washer disinfectors, maintenance person sterilisers, asbestos awareness, legionella awareness and prevention, tube system maintenance, plc controllers, steam/Boilers etc to achieve competency and / or accreditation.
9. Required to develop additional skills through training provided in other specialist areas e.g. Complex Air Conditioning system.
10. Requirement to undertake in house training relevant to position such as specific statutory training, Archibus, Learnpro and Toolbox Talks.
11. Specific Medical Gas training and Medical Gas Pipeline Systems training is provided to ensure post holders have the required knowledge and can be deemed competent persons.Sterilisers and autoclave accredited courses are provided to ensure competent person status.
12. Undertake on-call duties as part of the on-call team.
13. Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have
14. Must have served at least a 4 year apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and achieved City & Guilds Part 3, ONC or equivalent
15. Basic training in Health & safety, Manual handling and CPR
16. Maintenance of complex building services, plant and equipment
17. Have worked on a wide range of electrical, mechanical equipment, both commercial and domestic
18. Extensive post apprenticeship within a plant service environment
19. Ability to plan and prioritise workload and coordinate material management requirements
20. Diagnose & repair faults in electrical /mechanical equipment & building services
