The CES will be a representative for education at local, regional, and national meetings. The post holder will represent their locality of the training hub, ensuring that national quality standards are met within practice placements to provide a learner's experience of the highest quality. This includes developing new and auditing existing clinical learning environments.
The post holder must have the ability to identify trends in work-based learning and work in partnership with managers and staff to ensure the learning needs of learners are met, including the use of e-learning. The CES will ensure that learning opportunities are maximized in the workplace for all staff by delivering and evaluating training and development programmes, implementing changes reflective of evidence gathered.
The CES will identify and promote opportunities for partnership working in the field of education and development across a range of professional groups and agencies, including HEIs, Open University, Royal College of Nursing (RCN), and Colleges of Further Education. This includes arranging and supporting practice placements for Physician Associates, Paramedics, Nursing students, and other Allied Health Professionals.
The CES will demonstrate the ability to build effective working relationships with staff and colleagues in supporting learning, representing the Training Hub at locality steering groups, and attending other locality meetings to advise on learning opportunities and keep up to date on service developments. The CES will evaluate partnership working using both formal and informal feedback, identifying areas for improvement as necessary, such as reviewing and revising the Access to Nursing induction programme as part of Service Improvement.
The CES will use their expertise to assess the need for increased participation in education activities while ensuring the quality of healthcare provision by the Primary Care workforce. The CES will recognize the need for and actively work to increase the availability of practice placements while ensuring consistency in the quality of placements available for the training and educating of AHPs within Primary Care in Greater Manchester.
The CES will be instrumental in influencing practice managers and practice educators to continue to offer quality placements in times of great demands on clinicians and services, helping to address barriers such as lack of funding, time, and space for students. The post holder will liaise with HEIs regarding practice placement issues, including discussing student performance with personal tutors, practice supervisors/assessors, and academic assessors, helping to solve problems by negotiating actions to be taken in cases of underperformance.
Develop and maintain communication networks and close working relationships with directors, managers, practice supervisors/assessors, and HEIs, including group discussions and one-to-one meetings about providing and enhancing learning opportunities for students. This includes identifying and establishing electronic forums for information exchange and appropriately tailoring communication of information to the audience, increasing awareness of GMTH programmes available within locality.
Provide pastoral care and support to students on clinical placement and manage time effectively to achieve required outcomes within the constraints of projects. The role requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to manage one's own workload.
