ABOUT THIS ROLE
Under the direction of the Buildings and Maintenance Manager, the main responsibilities of the Maintenance Assistant role will be to deliver a programme of planned and reactive building, plant and equipment maintenance across G Live. To keep the building looking clean and presentable and in a good working order.
This is an interesting and varied post assisting the Buildings and Maintenance Manager in preparing, managing and delivering planned and reactive building, plant and equipment maintenance at G Live. Previous practical maintenance experience is essential, and you will ideally have experience of painting, plumbing, woodworking, minor fault finding and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
You will possess good communication skills, a flexible attitude and be organised and motivated with the ability to effectively analyse problems and prioritise your workload.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key attributes:
* With other members of the Technical Team, contribution as required to the achievement of G Live’s Business Plan and its relevant targets and objectives.
* The post holder will abide by relevant health and safety and licensing requirements and will also ensure all contractors, visiting performers and personnel conform to these requirements and that good housekeeping procedures are adopted. The post holder will also assist in the implementation of relevant Health & Safety and licensing related policies and procedures.
* General building maintenance of the venue, to include (but not restricted to) lamp rounds, compliance checks, general painting, basic plumbing, repair works etc.
* To be a designated key holder and to undertake and ensure the safety and security of the building as required.
* Support other members of the operations team by providing maintenance and repair work at G Live.
* Undertake venue inspections to maintain security and repair when needed.
* Assist in the preparation of a planned maintenance programme.
* Specify order and supervise minor repair works around the building.
* Undertake specific maintenance and repair operations, complying with relevant Health and Safety requirements.
* Action and complete any day-to-day maintenance tasks around the building. Use the cloud-based building maintenance software to keep a log of any maintenance that is reported and completed.
* Undertake training and development as deemed appropriate by the Buildings and Maintenance Manager, keeping apprised of developments in field of expertise.
* Carry out any other duties appropriate to the post and as requested by Buildings and Maintenance Manager.

YOUR EXPERIENCE:
Essential
* A good team player.
* Experience working in a maintenance role, and work on general building maintenance.
* Good knowledge of Health and Safety including the correct use of personal protective equipment.
* Experience in working to maintenance and service contracts.
* Physically fit and be able to lift and carry light items of equipment and furniture.
* Able to use and maintain basic power tools.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to respond positively to a pressurised environment and adopt a positive approach to problem solving.
Desirable
* An understanding of fire safety including previous experience of the operation of fire alarm panels.
* An understanding of security requirements in a technical environment.
* Experience in theatre environment.
* Formal Health and Safety training to an intermediate standard, e.g., IOSH Working Safely.
* Experience of PAT testing and basic electrical maintenance.
* Plumbing or Electrical trade experience.
* Formal qualification in a trade.
Personal
* The role includes regular manual handling, lone and assisted lifting tasks.
* A flexible attitude and willing to work to meet programming requirements, including evenings, weekends and banks holidays as required.
* A willingness to undertake developmental opportunities.
