An opportunity has arisen for the post of Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) Workshop Manager within the Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology (SMART) Services based within the purpose-build SMART Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh. SMART Services (www.smart.scot.nhs.uk) provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland and beyond. This a new post that brings together the two technical teams within the Prosthetics and Orthotics Services and represents an exciting opportunity to shape the future, along with the clinical teams, to ensure state-of-the art provision to prosthetic and orthotics service users across Southeast Scotland.
The post holder will have lead responsibility for the leadership and management of the Prosthetics & Orthotics Workshop including overall management of the workshop team (around 13 WTE staff). They will work closely with the clinical team to ensure the provision of high quality and safe equipment to patients.
The post holder will provide full service management for the Prosthetics & Orthotics Workshop including manufacturing, procurement, servicing, planned preventative maintenance and refurbishment of equipment as required within service resources and to appropriate quality standards, health & safety standards and regulatory requirements, including those related to Medical Devices.
The post-holder will work collaboratively with the two other Workshop Managers within SMART Services on matters of shared interest and responsibility, and the wider SMART Services’ Operational Management Team.
