We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Installation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of network cabling infrastructures across both public and private sector environments. This role involves working with copper, fibre optic, and coaxial cabling, as well as installing telecoms equipment and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
This role requires regular travel across the UK and occasionally working away from home, depending on project requirements - notice given in advance.
Key Responsibilities
* Install copper, fibre optic, and coaxial network cabling infrastructures in various buildings and environments.
* Perform internal splicing, terminating, and testing of fibre, copper, and coaxial cabling.
* Install and commission DAS and small cell solutions, including mounting equipment in racks and patching.
* Conduct copper and coaxial terminating, testing, and fault-finding.
* Carry out minor infrastructure surveys and builds.
* Perform rack and sub-rack installations.
* Install telecoms equipment, including minor DC power work, following provided design documentation.
* Provide ad hoc updates on technical and field issues as required.
* Assist other engineers where necessary, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Report progress and highlight any issues affecting the work.
* Ensure all duties are performed safely and in line with industry best practices.
* Be willing to travel as required for the role.
* Undertake any other duties deemed appropriate by the business.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in the installation, termination, and testing of copper, fibre optic, and coaxial networks.
* Knowledge of DAS and small cell installations.
* Experience with rack and sub-rack installations.
* Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with cabling and telecoms infrastructure.
* Familiarity with DC power work and telecoms equipment installation.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
* Willingness to travel to various sites as required.
* A strong commitment to health and safety regulations.
Desirable Qualifications
* Industry certifications (e.g., CNCI, or equivalent).
* Knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices.
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent (preferred)
* ECS Gold Card (preferred)
* CSCS (required)
* Experience working in both public and private sector environments.
* Full UK Driving Licence (required)
