Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will lead, manage, and continually develop the Production area to support the delivery of business requirements.
Working a rotational shift pattern, over 3 rotating shifts: Days, Afters, Nights (8-hour shifts), with possible 4 on 4 off.
The Shift Manager will create a performance climate where people at all levels expect to be held accountable for delivering their commitments. You will be motivating others through leadership, coaching, and effective performance management. The Shift Manager will set high standards and lead by example by driving and facilitating continuous improvement in Safety, Food Safety and Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Key Responsibilities
* Delivery of the production plan through direct reporting teams on shifts, escalating site issues promptly to the Ops Manager.
* Adherence to Food Manufacturing Safety & Quality Standards always.
* Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing Techniques to production operations.
* Performance management of all direct reports to ensure operational requirements are always met.
* Controlling and effectively using labor within budget to meet production program requirements and customer expectations.
* Accountable for equipment efficiencies, including GMP waste, labor & Cost, materials, OTIF.
* Creating a factory environment where individuals feel able to continually challenge the status quo, embrace change and make decisions to improve performance.
* Developing and utilizing appropriate KPI’s, ensuring that they are effectively always used, liaising with other departments, such as Quality and Engineering to ensure production issues are addressed promptly.
* Lead by example through good values & behaviours to drive the right positive culture.
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience within a production or engineering environment, ideally within FMCG.
* Experience in managing automated process lines.
* Experience in managing teams of people.
* Demonstration of the ability to coach and lead change.
* Very good understanding and interpretation of data.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
