Hearing Impairment Specialist Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Hearing Impairment Specialist Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team in London. This role involves providing tailored support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they can fully engage in their education. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to facilitate learning, communication, and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and group support for students with hearing impairments.
* Use British Sign Language (BSL) or other communication methods to aid learning.
* Assist in modifying lesson materials to ensure accessibility.
* Support students in developing their independence and confidence in the classroom.
* Collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) objectives .
* Use assistive technologies, including radio aids and speech-to-text software .
* Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
✅ Experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments in an educational setting.
✅ BSL Level 2 or above (preferred but not essential).
✅ Understanding of deaf awareness and inclusive education strategies .
✅ Knowledge of EHCPs and SEN support frameworks.
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
✅ Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with additional needs.
