Job Responsibilities
As part of our Pollution Control & Public Health team, you will assist in the provision of an animal welfare service to the community of North Lanarkshire Council. Your duties will include:
1. Administration and enforcement of relevant legislation such as the Dog Fouling (Scotland) Act 2003 and the Control of Dogs (Scotland) Act 2010.
2. Issuing Dog Control Notices and Fixed Penalty Notices as appropriate.
3. Uplifting and transporting stray dogs to kennels.
4. Responding to relevant complaints from the public.
5. Promoting and educating the community on animal welfare issues.
6. Providing advice and guidance to members of the public.
Qualifications
You will have previous experience and training within an animal welfare function, be skilled in the control of dogs, and also have the capacity to instruct and advise others in dog control matters or be willing to complete appropriate training and develop these skills in due course. Equally important, you will possess excellent communication skills, have the ability to stay calm under pressure and deal confidently with issues as they arise.
You must hold a current driving licence.
Working Pattern
This post is part time, comprising of 21 hours per week.
