Youth Intervention Specialist Job Code # 003015
Helps create an environment that promotes student learning and development through programming and support for student behavior.
Primary Responsibilities: Positive Behavior Support
1. Implement and monitor Positive Behavior Intervention Support Program
2. Create Advisory Curriculum in conjunction with administration around Social and Emotional Learning
3. Deliver staff development around the PBIS/SEL programs
4. Implement and monitor the peer mediation council
5. De-escalate student incidents and behavior
6. Maintain communication with parents, teachers, and administration
7. Refer students to administration or student support as needed
8. Ensure that attendance is entered daily into Impact.
9. Ensure that all reporting timelines and deadlines are met.
10. Monitor student attendance and track absences
11. Daily phone calls to parents and students when absent
12. Home visits to chronically absent students
13. Design and implement attendance incentives
14. Serve on the attendance task force
15. Assist with the development of Individual Student Plans
Secondary Responsibilities: Discipline
1. Monitor student behavior and provide consequences in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct in conjunction with the Assistant Principal
2. Manage student entrance every morning
3. Conduct hall sweeps and classroom walk-throughs to promote positive behavior
4. Monitor the cafeteria during lunch and events
5. Run the In-School Suspension Room as needed
6. Conduct afterschool and Saturday detention as needed
Requirements:
1. College Degree in Public Administration, Education, or Human Services Field
2. Previous experience in a school setting/or working with adolescents
3. Ability to work after school and weekend hours
4. Experience with Guided Discipline and PBIS
5. Ability to interface with teachers and find creative solutions to challenging problems
