Leonardo’s two-year Cyber Security Apprenticeship provides a wealth of learning and development opportunities, including a Level 4 Cyber Security Engineer award. The programme is tailored to provide a springboard into the world of Cyber Security, focused on the following areas:

* Operating Systems
* Networking and Architecture
* Cloud Services
* Business Processes
* Data, ML/AI, Analytics, and DevOps

What you will do
Life as an apprentice at Leonardo is never boring! Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be working in a wide range of areas, such as:
* Building secure systems and networks from scratch
* Installing and configuring operating systems, firewalls, and applications
* Deploying and using secure Cloud environments such as AWS and Azure
* Installing and using DevOps for secure software development
* Data analytics with Machine Learning and AI
* Detecting and remediating cyberattacks
* Supporting STEM activities and outreach
Your work will support critical business areas throughout Leonardo and our customers in the UK government and private sector, and will provide you with great learning opportunities in the field. At the same time, you will obtain the academic knowledge and qualifications necessary for your future career in a high-tech company, through specially designed courses delivered by our training supplier.
You will be working within world-class facilities, in both office and lab environments and will have opportunities to travel to other Leonardo UK and customer sites, to meet with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
You will be selected through a combination of academic/vocational progress to transfer onto one of our skill-specific paths, which include:
* Security Engineering
* Security Event Analytics
* Incident Response
* Threat Intelligence
Beyond the programme, there may be the opportunity for you to further your academic and vocational achievements based on your talents, capability, and needs of the business. You would be expected to commit to the successful completion of all your academic modules and assignments in support of the Apprenticeship standard.

This apprenticeship assumes little prior cybersecurity experience and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have an engineering, software, or computing degree.
You must have (as a minimum) the following academic qualifications:
An A Level in ICT OR An International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT OR A Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject OR A BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits). Experience (if the learner can’t meet the qualification requirements): A minimum of 1-year work experience in a Technical support role e.g., Help Desk. Should also be working at Level 2 in Maths and English.
The starting salary for this role is £21,000.
